Maipo Valley Wine Tour
Chilean wine history
Maipo Valley is well known for its red wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon and Carménère. The volcanic soils and special temperatures provide an optimum location for the development of vineyards that have been around since the nineteenth century. We will visit two wineries on this valley.
The first one is Viña Santa Rita, a very important winery, both nationally and internationally. Here, we will visit a house that has been declared a national monument as well as archaeological museums. In the wine tour, you can learn how these wines are created and stored, as well as enjoy a delicious wine tasting.
The second one is Viña Concha & Toro, one of the 10 greatest wine companies in the world. It is one of the best known wineries worldwide, and the most important one in South America. In the tour we will visit the former residence of Melchor and Emiliana, the founders of the vineyard, see their plantations with a wide inventory of various strains, learn the legend of “Casillero del Diablo” and taste some red and white wines.
We will have lunch at a restaurant located in the Pirque village, where we will be offered with some meat options, cultural Chilean food and folklore.
